Academic Success
Learn how students can identify factors that may be obstacles to their academic success. Read about strategies that students can use to avoid or overcome these obstacles.

Academic Summary
View a summary of the student's key academic records. Learn how and where the record can be updated if it is out of date or incorrect.

Admissions Information
View a variety of data related to an undergraduate student's admission to the University.

Adviser Information
Find out the name, office address, telephone number, e-mail address, and other relevant information about a student's assigned academic adviser. Send the student an e-mail summary.

Adviser Look-Up
Identify an adviser based on his/her ISIS adviser code or access ID.

Advising Notes
Enter and/or view notes of advising contacts with or about students.

Advising Rosters
Send a copy of your advising roster to your e-mail account as a list of names and e-mail addresses or names and other student-specific data. Copy the roster directly into your e-mail program or into a spreadsheet or database program of your choice.

Alternative Majors
View a list of Penn State baccalaureate majors (at all locations) that are similar to a major that interests a student.

Calendar, Academic
The academic calendar identifies important dates throughout the semester related to class meetings and academic deadlines.

Code of Conduct for Students
The Code of Conduct describes behaviors that are inconsistent with the essential values of the University community.

Confidentiality/FERPA
The federal Family Educational Rights and privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974 protects the privacy of student education records and identifies the rights of students with respect to education records maintained by institutions.

Course Availability
Determine which sections of specific course sections are available for scheduling.

Course Drop Dates
View the regular drop and late drop processing dates for the student's courses. The number of late drop credits remaining is also provided. This application is available for current and future semesters.

Course Preferences
Find out which majors are available to a student based on the course(s) that he or she decides not to take. Send the student an e-mail summary.

Degree Audit
Request an up-to-date degree audit for an undergraduate student. Degree audits may be requested for a student's current undergraduate major(s), current undergraduate minor(s), any valid undergraduate major/option offered, or any valid undergraduate minor offered. A requested degree audit report will be processed and returned back to your browser for viewing.

E-mail Advisees
Send an e-mail message to one advisee, to selected advisees, or to all advisees simultaneously. A copy of the message will automatically be sent to your own e-mail account.

Early Progress Report
View a list of advisees who have received Early Progress Reports. Select an advisee from the list and learn which courses the advisee is getting a grade of less than C in, the reasons for the low grade, and some steps the student can take to improve the grade.

Entrance to Major
Learn how students can update and/or confirm their first, second, and third major and location preferences. Students who confirm their preferences during the appropriate time period will be included in the college entrance to major process.

Exploring Majors
Learn how students can explore majors. Link to University resources that can assist students in the exploration process.

GPA Prediction
Calculate semester and cumulative grade-point averages based on the grades a student predicts he/she will earn in current courses. View the calculations and read the implications. Send the student an e-mail summary.

Grades
View semester grades from any semester in which a student has been enrolled.

Holds
View holds placed on a student's record that may prevent registration, issuing of transcripts or diplomas, as well as the placement of a transcript notation.

Late Course Drop
Learn about the policies and procedures for late dropping a course. The "Interactive Advising" version of this module will provide students the opportunity to participate in personalized, interactive advising sessions that will assist them in determining alternatives to and implications of late dropping specific courses. Students will be permitted to process late course drops through eLion after participating in the advising sessions. Advisers will receive an e-mail notification of each late drop action processed through eLion by their advisees.

Major Preferences
Learn how students can update and/or confirm their first, second, and third major and location preferences. Students who confirm their preferences during the appropriate time period will be included in the college entrance to major process.

Major Themes
Create a list of Penn State baccalaureate majors that may interest a student by identifying areas of interest, selecting themes (groups of majors) related to those interests, and choosing campus locations. Send the student an e-mail summary with links to information about each major on the list.

Minor Themes
Create a list of Penn State minors (at all campuses) that match a student's interests in expanding area(s) studied in the undergraduate experience. Penn State minors have been classified into different themes based on the similarity of the topics studied in each minor. Send the student an e-mail summary with links to information about each minor on the list.

The Penn State principles were developed to embody the values held by the University community.

Photo ID
View the id+ photograph of an advisee and a brief academic summary.

Placement Test
Review a student's Academic Background and Placement, including results from the English, mathematics, and chemistry tests administered through New Student Orientation (NSO) (formerly called FTCAP). Send the student an e-mail copy of the placement actions.

Planning Survey (EPS)
View a student's responses to questions asked on the Educational Planning Survey administered through New Student Orientation (NSO) (formerly called FTCAP).

Recommended Academic Plans
Recommended Academic Plans provide, in table form, the courses students might schedule semester by semester as they pursue a particular degree.

Roster Maintenance
Assign undergraduates to academic advisers: add new advisers to department lists, edit existing adviser lists, and simultaneously assign multiple students to a single adviser.

Schedule of Courses
The Schedule of Courses is a Web application available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week containing a complete listing of course offerings and availability for all campus locations.

Student Schedule
View a student's semester schedule, in two different formats, for the current semester or a future semester. Print the schedule and/or send a copy of the schedule to the student.

Target GPA Prediction
Calculate the grades a student will need in order to reach a specific target cumulative grade-point average. View the calculations and read the implications. Send the student an e-mail summary.

Transcripts
View a student's full academic transcript.

Withdrawal
Learn about the policies and procedures for official withdrawal. The "Interactive Advising" version of this module will provide students the opportunity to participate in personalized, interactive advising sessions that will assist them in determining alternatives to and implications of withdrawing from the University for the current semester. Students will be permitted to process an official withdrawal through eLion after participating in the advising sessions. Advisers will receive an e-mail notification of each withdrawal processed through eLion by their advisees.
